Buenos Aires, January 11 (NA) -- Within the framework of preventive operations deployed during the summer season in Mar del Plata, personnel from the Buenos Aires Police managed to apprehend three criminals with extensive criminal records this Sunday. They are accused of having committed aggravated robberies by breaking and entering, as well as concealment, in the southern part of the city. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the operation was carried out during the day, when personnel from the Immediate Operations Tactical Unit (UTOI) were on prevention tasks, as part of the security device in areas adjacent to various mass nightlife events in the south of the city. UTOI had the collaboration and support of the 13th precinct police, which corresponds to said jurisdiction. The case is in the hands of the Flagrancia UFI, under the charge of prosecutor Antonio Vincenti. The operation was carried out in the vicinity of Corbeta Uruguay street at 4220, and the intersection of Diagonal Estados Unidos and Raselo, a sector where preventive patrols had been intensified due to the holding of massive events and shows with a large attendance, with the presence of international artists and a significant tourist flow. During a preventive tour, the UTOI motorcycle groups observed several individuals attempting to forcibly enter a residence by jumping the perimeter fence. Upon the police order to halt, the suspects did not comply and fled. After a quick chase, the officers managed to subdue and apprehend three individuals, who were moving in at least two vehicles, one of which had an active seizure order. Victims and criminal modus operandi As a result of the initial investigation, it was established that the detainees had entered two residences, from which they stole various belongings, which were being loaded into a red Ford Ka, with license plate AA775AD. However, upon checking the numbers engraved on the vehicle's glass, it was found that they corresponded to license plate AA080KL, a vehicle that had a seizure order since November 22, 2025, at the request of the 4th Police Station, for a case of car theft. The victims recognized several of the seized belongings as their own, including tools and personal items, highlighting the key to a RAM truck, which allowed the theft of the vehicle to be thwarted. It was also determined that during the criminal act, the suspects caused damage to at least five vehicles, in apparent theft attempts. During the procedure, a red Ford Ka vehicle with a fake license plate was seized; various tools, including breaking tools, keys, ratchets, bars, and metal cutting tools. The identity of the owner of a Fiat Cubo van was also established, who stated that the vehicle had been stolen from him hours earlier during a social gathering, also recognizing part of the recovered items as his property. The Scientific Police worked at the scene, carrying out the corresponding expert examinations, while the detainees are three men aged 38, 36, and 26, respectively. All have been charged with the crimes of 'aggravated robbery by breaking and entering and concealment.' The detainees have a thick criminal record, with prior convictions for aggravated robberies with the use of firearms; violation of domicile; crimes committed in town and in a gang; carrying and illegal possession of weapons; concealment of car thefts; resistance to authority; violation of Law 23.737 (drugs); escapes and violations of judicial measures. Some of them have previous stays in prison units for multiple offenses. IP The accused were transferred to Unit 44 of the Penitentiary System, remaining at the disposal of the Justice system.
